As X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, WordPress.com (at least the free version), and more get Enshittified, maybe you want a place that you own to share your content.
Yoshino Garden, a sister site of Sakurajima, aims to provide a WordPress Blog or Site for Anime/Manga Bloggers and Creators a place to blog about their favorite anime/manga and share creations for our members on our Mastodon or Misskey server and affiliates, and those who already have an already established Japanese Media/culture related blog that is looking for a free alternative.
All are supported by the community through donations from our supporters, not by ads.

What is WordPress?
WordPress is a content management system software primarily geared at creating blogs, but you can also use it to create a website.
Is hosting a blog at Yoshino Garden free?
Yes, it is. However, there are requirements to receive blog hosting. You must be an active member of our Mastodon or Misskey server (Sakurajima Moe or Social) or Urusai Social and post at least a few posts. This requirement ensures that any of our users can get a blog or site don’t abuse our services. If you aren’t a member of our server, you can join us at Mastodon or Misskey. Links are at the bottom.
Active Patrons receive 6 GB of storage.
How is Yoshino Garden is funded?
Can I upload my own themes/plugins?
No, you cannot upload your plugins and themes. Yoshino Garden is a fully managed solution. We curate the plugins and themes available for performance and security. A good number of plugins are already available for anyone to use. Since our themes are highly customizable, making your theme from scratch is unnecessary.
If there is a plugin you would like to see made available to everyone, suggest it on the forums.
How do I enable ActivityPub?
In WordPress, you can enable ActivityPub to allow people to follow and interact with your blog on the Fediverse. You need to enable these plugins to make it fully work:
- ActivityPub
- NodeInfo2
- WebFinger
The friends plugin is optional, which allows your blog to follow others on the Fediverse. However, it will only show them as friends, with no other functionality. We do recommend importing the Fedinuke list and keeping it up to date (add the contents to the disallowed comments key).
I need more space. How do I get more?
If you are an active patron of Sakurajima, you may request more space anytime.
Are AI Crawlers blocked on Yoshino Garden?
Yes, all known AI crawlers, used to scrape for data for training for ChatGPT and other generative AI programs are blocked from all blogs hosted on Yoshino Garden.
Can I import an existing blog?
Yes, you can. For WordPress.com, use the export tool in your WordPress dashboard to export everything from your blog and use the WordPress importer to import your data. You can also import your Blogger, Dreamwidth (via LiveJournal importer), Movable Type/TypePad, Tumblr blogs into your new blog here as well. Note that the importers does support Cohost yet.
Can I export my blog if I decide to self-host it myself?
Yes you can. Just contact us and we can make an export of your blog including your media files to a functional site that you can import or drop in with your new host.
